Let Go of the Stuff

We all have STUFF. The stuff that we can't let go of inside our heads. The constant internal dialogue, the wheels of our minds turning non-stop.
Today in class, Todd started us out in Child's Pose (which I thought I might need to stay in for the entire class) and told us:
"LET GO OF YOUR STUFF. If the stuff starts filling up your mind, politely excuse it and concentrate on THIS MOMENT. Be in the moment, appreciate the moment. Live in the moment."
It's so much easier said than done. Living in and appreciating THIS moment for what it is. He talked about our emotions within this moment - really feeling them and expressing them.
He said one of his greatest joys as a teacher is when every now and then, one of his students will get so frustrated they'll just yell "F*CK!" and he's so proud of them for letting the emotion roll through them and roll right out into the classroom. So cry if you need to cry, he said. Laugh if you need to laugh. Swear if you need to swear, but be in the moment and feel your emotions and embrace them.
I didn't cry today and I didn't yell out "F*CK!" but I did laugh a little and I did feel some relief, and I did kick way further up from Downward Dog into a wannabe hand stand than I've ever managed before, so here's to the tiny victories. No tears, a little laughter, and making it out of Child's Pose (for at least half of the class at least).
Namaste.
