...is inside of me. Whitney was right.
I feel like so many problems in this world could be solved if we could somehow figure out how to teach people to love themselves.
Empty vessels have nothing to give. If we're empty and we try to give, give, give, we'll drown.
When we don't love ourselves, we try to fill ourselves up with anything that might provide temporary distraction from the emptiness inside.
We've got to teach our children to build their houses on rock, not sand, so that when the storms come, they'll have the solid foundation of knowing their worth.
We've all had people in our lives who were empty inside and who never learned to love themselves. Sometimes they cope by trying to take it out on the world. Sometimes they cope by trying to take it out on you.
Maybe they try to take your joy and confidence; maybe they try to tear you down to make themselves feel bigger; maybe they try to fill themselves up, by emptying you.
But with a strong foundation, we can all save ourselves from these thieves. We can reclaim our own joy, walk away, heads held high, knowing who we are and knowing that we are loved beyond measure. From the inside.
No one can ever take that love away.
