I'm reading a new book by Mel Robbins... Let Them. And I love it. Reading about this mindset has renewed a fire in me to create without fear of what other people may think. "Let Them" is about "releasing the need to control other people's actions, thoughts, and feelings and instead focusing on what we can control: our own reactions, thoughts, and choices."

Writing helps me process stress, anxiety, grief and pain. Writing wakes something up inside my brain and gives me a dopamine hit, in the best, non-social-media fueled way. At least when it's going well. When the words just seem to flow. But I haven't been writing a lot lately and that's partially because people started reading what I have to say. That seems counter-intuitive... if I write something, don't I want people to read it? Well, yes and no. Yes, I love hearing from friends and family saying that they loved my latest post. And No, because knowing people do read my writing activates feelings of self-doubt and fear.

The "Let them," mantra is about radically accepting the many uncontrollable aspects of life. The critical second half of this philosophy is "Let Me." When we say "Let Me," we decide how we will respond to any given adversities and anxieties we face.

So... in the spirit of the Let Them Theory... People may judge... Let them. People may laugh... Let them. People may think I'm waxing poetic and a little too sentimental. Let them. And Let Me... do what I love. Let me write without expectation, without fear, without boundaries. Let me enjoy this practice of putting words down on the page for no other reason than it makes me happy, it brings me peace and it unleashes all sorts of creativity in my life. Let me do what brings me joy in my "one wild and precious life."

Namaste.
